چکیده

An AHP model suffering from significant cardinal or/and ordinal inconsistencies in its preference matrix is difficult to rank rationally the alternatives. This study proposes an iterative method to assist a decision maker to detect/adjust inconsistencies and to represent his/her judgments properly. A Gower plot is first used to detect ordinal and cardinal inconsistencies. Two optimization models are then constructed to provide suggeted adjustments upon the request of the decision maker. By examining the Gower plots and numerical suggestions, the decision maker may revise iteratively the preference ratios to improve inconsistencies until all alternatives are ranked. 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Probabilistic Graphical Models for Boosting Cardinal and Ordinal Peer Grading in MOOCs

With the enormous scale of massive open online courses (MOOCs), peer grading is vital for addressing the assessment challenge for open-ended assignments or exams while at the same time providing students with an effective learning experience through involvement in the grading process. Most existing MOOC platforms use simple schemes for aggregating peer grades, e.g., taking the median or mean. T...

A New Way to Analyze Paired Comparisons

The importance of “paired comparisons,” whether ordinal or cardinal, has motivated the creation of several methodological approaches; missing, however, is a common way to compare the various techniques. To do so, an approach developed here creates a coordinate system for the “data space.” The coordinates capture which data aspects satisfy a strong cardinal transitivity condition and which ones ...

Integrating Multi-criteria Analysis and GIS for Land Condition Assessment: Part II – Allocation of Military Training Areas

This paper describes multicriteria models for identifying areas best suited for military training exercises. Training loads are measured in terms of Maneuver Impact Miles, which in turn are estimated based on different impact variables. Three criteria are used to reflect training impacts, namely: erosion status, vegetative percent cover, and range condition. Two models are developed to address ...

New phase II control chart for monitoring ordinal contingency table based processes

In some statistical process monitoring applications, quality of a process or product is described by more than one ordinal factors called ordinal multivariate process. To show the relationship between these factors, an ordinal contingency table is used and modeled with ordinal log-linear model. In this paper, a new control charts based on ordinal-normal statistic is developed to monitor the ord...

Transition Models for Analyzing Longitudinal Data with Bivariate Mixed Ordinal and Nominal Responses

In many longitudinal studies, nominal and ordinal mixed bivariate responses are measured. In these studies, the aim is to investigate the effects of explanatory variables on these time-related responses. A regression analysis for these types of data must allow for the correlation among responses during the time. To analyze such ordinal-nominal responses, using a proposed weighting approach, an ...
